We are seeking a passionate and experienced Nursing Instructor to join our team at Healthcare Science Academy. The ideal candidate will provide expert classroom and clinical instruction to nursing students, fostering a supportive learning environment and ensuring students meet educational and clinical competencies. Responsibilities include delivering lectures, supervising clinical practice, assessing student performance, and contributing to curriculum development. A valid nursing license and strong communication skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive classroom instruction: Prepare and conduct engaging lectures and interactive lab sessions that effectively communicate nursing theory and concepts, ensuring alignment with the program curriculum and learning objectives.

Clinical supervision and mentorship: Oversee students during clinical placements, providing hands-on guidance to ensure safe, competent, and ethical patient care; actively mentor students by modeling professional nursing practices.

Assessment and evaluation: Design, administer, and grade written exams, practical tests, and clinical evaluations to accurately assess students’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills; provide timely and constructive feedback to support student development.

Curriculum development and revision: Collaborate with academic teams to develop, review, and update course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials to keep content current, evidence-based, and aligned with accreditation standards.

Student academic support: Offer individualized academic advising and support to students, addressing learning challenges, clarifying course requirements, and encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Record keeping and documentation: Maintain detailed records of student attendance, grades, clinical performance, and progression; ensure documentation meets institutional and regulatory requirements.

Compliance and safety oversight: Ensure that all teaching activities and clinical practices adhere to institutional policies, accreditation standards, and healthcare regulations, maintaining a safe learning environment for students and patients.

Professional development: Engage in ongoing education and scholarly activities to stay updated on current nursing practices, educational methodologies, and emerging healthcare trends; participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and relevant committees.

Foster a supportive learning environment: Create a respectful, inclusive, and motivating classroom and clinical atmosphere that promotes ethical behavior, professionalism, and student engagement.

Communication and collaboration: Work effectively with students, clinical staff, faculty members, and administrative personnel to facilitate smooth program delivery and address any academic or clinical issues promptly.
Qualifications

Active RN or LVN license in California.

Active RN or LVN license in California. (Two (2) years of Nursing Experience)

One (1) of the two years must be as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting.

One (1) year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing. OR DSD Certification.

CPR Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)

Valid DSD (Director of Staff Development) certification
